Orchids

Orchid Tips
Phaleanopsis (Moth Orchid) is the perfect
beginners orchid. It grows indoors and out (no frost) in the
shade. It loves light but not direct sunshine.
After blooming cut the stem below the
last flower and a new flower spike will grow.
It is not unusual to have a Phaleanopsis orchid in
bloom 6 - 9 months.
Water sparingly once a week. The plant should never
stand in water, that will rot it.
Do not repot, the soil it is in is perfect. The roots
growing out of the pot are air roots and should not be cut
off. |

Orchid of the Month
Trudy's Pick "Cymbidiums"

Gorgeous Cymbidiums in a variety of colors are here
in time for an early start to the holidays. I love these orchids
both because they are lush and elegant. An added bonus is the
longevity of the blooms, which will last throughout the holiday
season with minimal care. Cymbidiums are among the easiest and most
rewarding orchids to grow and make a perfect gift, and are a
wonderful way to brighten up your own home and office.
Interesting Fact: The name is derived from the
Greek word kumbos, meaning 'hole, cavity'. It refers to the form of
the base of the lip.
We are looking forward to seeing you and helping you discover
the beauty of orchids this holiday season!
Regards,
Trudy |
